Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toniz Collins is also referred to as Antonietta Gonzalez-Collins in both the US as well as Mexico, is a Mexican-American sportscaster. Her employer is ESPN and is a SportsCenter anchor for news. She started working at ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of the reporter for television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bilingual since the age of nine. Her skills were instrumental in securing her first post as a an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Then, she was hired by the CBS station in St. Petersburg employed her as a reporter for sports. In 2009, she relocated from Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an investigative reporter for the Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. She covered stories about illegal immigration as well as drug trafficking in both Texas and Mexico. The station also frequently asked her to be a sports and weather anchor. Then, shortly afterward, her parents separated and, in 1995 Fabio Fajardo remarried. He died of kidney cancer in 2006. On a trip, Antonietta stayed at the house of her sister Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sibling had recently gotten an offer to work. Antonietta was a senior in high school but she knew exactly what career path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union would be a good fit for her, Antonietta visited the campus. In the end, she loved the school and they were offering the kind of program she was searching for. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University with a degree in media studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor was also the station director of WRMU (91.1 FM), where she belonged. Mark's passion for journalism and confidence in herself encouraged her. She, in turn, tried to meet his expectations and never disappoint him.
